APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Make an office call. No appointment necessary. Call 966-2000 and make request, preferably between 8:00 - 9:30 a.m. and 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. Children's Protective Services available 24-hours daily, 7 days a week. For Protective Services after hours, call 1-800-662-1023.


CAN HELP BE IMMEDIATE: Depends on need. No waiting period for intake.


SUPPORTED BY: State, Federal and County funding.


PROGRAM/SERVICES DESCRIPTION:
1. FAMILY INDEPENDENCE PROGRAMS. Financial assistance to children who lack the care or financial support of one or both parents.

2. MEDICAL ASSISTANCE. (Medicaid) Health care services to those who do not have the financial resources to purchase them. Special programs available for pregnant women, children, aged, blind, disabled.

3. STATE DISABILITY ASSISTANCE. Financial aid and medical services to single adults and childless couples who will be disabled for at least ninety (90) days.

4. STATE MEDICAL PROGRAM. Medical services for adults who do not qualify for Medical Assistance (Medicaid).

5. FOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. Help low income families and single persons with the cost of monthly food needs.

6. STATE EMERGENCY RELIEF. Immediate financial assistance to persons in emergency situations. Assistance may be available to enable persons to secure shelter/housing, heating fuel, electricity, household items and home repairs.

7. BURIAL Payment may be authorized for the burial or cremation of a deceased person when deceased's estate and other resources are not sufficient. Application must be made within 10 days of when burial or cremation takes place.

8. RESIDENT COUNTY HOSPITALIZATION PROGRAM. Payment for inpatient hospitalization for adults who have no means of payment and who are not eligible for coverage through other programs.

9. CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND CARE: Payments provided to eligible families with minor children.

10. FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES: Services for non-deferred FIA customers, including such items as: conflict resolution, parenting, nutrition, time management, counseling, etc.
11. PREVENTION SERVICES. Supportive services for families at-risk of abusing or neglecting their children.


SERVICES PROGRAMS

1. COMMUNITY PLACEMENT, ADULTS. Pre-placement services for certain adults who need care in nursing care facilities, homes for aged, adult foster care. Post-placement services for adults who are receiving care in such settings.

2. COMMUNITY PLACEMENT, CHILDREN. (Foster Care) Placement and supervision of children who cannot remain in their family homes. Placements may be voluntary or court ordered. Licensing for Foster Homes.

3. JUVENILE JUSTICE SERVICES. Placement and supervision of delinquent youth. Return of runaways across state lines. Social services to delinquent youths and their families.

4. ADOPTION SERVICES. Plans and supervises adoptive placement of permanent state wards or FIA – supervised court wards.

5. PROTECTIVE SERVICES, ADULTS. Provides protection to all vulnerable adults who are at- risk of harm due to actual or potential endangerment, abuse, neglect or exploitation.

6. PROTECTIVE SERVICES, CHILDREN. To protect children from conditions which threaten their health and safety due to the actions or inactions of adults responsible for their care.

7. INDEPENDENT LIVING SERVICES. The services offered to adults who require advice or assistance to support effective functioning in independent living situations.

8. HOME HELP SERVICES. Payment for assistance to qualified individuals who are unable to perform necessary routine daily activities (personal care, housekeeping, shopping, laundry, etc.) in order to enable them to remain in their homes.
