PROGRAM/SERVICES DESCRIPTION: The Mission of Blue Water Hospice is to provide a coordinated program of care to the terminally ill, that is patient and family-centered. This care is physical, spiritual, psychological and social in nature.

The Hospice gives support and care for persons in the last phases of incurable disease, with special emphasis on pain and symptom management. After death, we provide ongoing hope and support for the family and friends of the patient.

Hospice is really in the business of living. Hospice affirms life and believes that growth and change come naturally to us. Special care is given, then, to make sure the last months of life are lived in dignity, with a sense of importance.

Blue Water Hospice can support persons with short-term life expectancy and their families, with:

  • Medical consultation
  • Nursing visitation
  • Control of pain and other symptoms
  • Spiritual care (Of patient choice)
  • Emotional support to help patient and family cope with impending death
  • Trained volunteers who provide companionship
  • Patient and family education
  • Bereavement Support

The family and patient needs are addressed by a team composed of a physician, nurse, social worker, chaplain, patient volunteer and bereavement coordinator who meet weekly to discuss the medical, spiritual and emotional needs.
