PROGRAM/SERVICES DESCRIPTION:
Client Services
Direct Assistance – financial and psychosocial
support services including insurance and governmental
benefits assistance and referral. HFM also offers Support
Groups through online chat groups, phone groups and
fact to face support groups. Referrals are given to
appropriate community resources and the local hemophilia
treatment centers (HTC’s). HFM also offers medical
tags to those in the community to help identify their
condition.
Youth Services
HFM’s hosts the largest and oldest camp in the
Nation for those living with a bleeding disorder. Camp
Bold Eagle and Eagle Outpost are one-week summer camp
programs, which allow children to participate in normal
summer activities along with providing education on
their bleeding disorders. Many campers continue to participate
in our summer program through our Counselor-In-Training
(CIT) program and leadership development to become camp
staff and role models for those in the community. Teen
Retreat is another way for youth to develop leadership
skills and learn to be role models for others. MYLIFE
is a specialty program that offers a yearlong intensive
program on role model, leadership, team building and
self-motivation. MYLIFE works closely in planning and
implementing the Teen Newsletter and the youth programming
of SpringFest and the Holiday Party. HFM also offers
scholarships to those continuing their education and
are living with a bleeding disorder.
Outreach and Education Services
HFM has a comprehensive Library on site along with
regular provision of patient and provider educational
materials. Six newsletters, two magazines, one annual
report are put out each year to pass information throughout
the state. HFM also hosts an annual consumer conference
called SpringFest that provides educational sessions
on current issues. HFM offers a welcome program for
new members and outreach and education to women (a
minority group within the community). HFM participates
in several health fairs and other public displays.
HIV-Specific Direct Services
For those who are living with a bleeding disorder and
also have HIV/AIDS, HFM offers several services for
those individuals through a HIV/AIDS Retreat, support
groups, AIDS Walk, publications, advocacy through
the Ricky Ray settlement and education to the community
