MISSION: The March of Dimes is a national voluntary
health organization whose mission is to improve the
health of babies through the prevention of birth defects,
pre-maturity, and infant mortality. The mission is
accomplished through programs of community service,
research, advocacy, and education. A vast array of
videos and literature pertaining to prenatal care,
genetics, substance abuse, etc. available at the March
of Dimes office free of charge to the public. Call
our office for information regarding our Annual Community
Grant Awards.
PROGRAM/SERVICES DESCRIPTION: This organization is
a voluntary health association focusing its attention
on the problem of birth defects through research,
care, and treatment centers. Program activity categories
financed by local chapters, depending upon community
needs and availability of funds.
• Support for Medical Services Program grants
at university medical centers, teaching hospitals and
other major medication institutions.

Support for local medical services - Prenatal Care
Clinics and other perinatal services involving high-risk
pregnancies.

Professional Education
•
Purchase of medical equipment to be used by local hospitals
for perinatal care.
•
Grants and allocation to support professional personnel
at hospitals and other institutions providing perinatal
services.
•
Public Health Education
•
Financing of Health Care Awards to encourage young
students to enter the health professions.
•
Financing of direct patient aid.
