FEES: Goodwill Industries has a fee for each particular program. These fees are chargeable to the sponsoring agency.


ELIGIBILITY: Any resident of St. Clair County who cannot function in a competitive employment setting. Eighteen years old and up.


APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Because clients need a comprehensive physical and proof of disability prior to enrollment in Goodwill, most prospective participants are referred to the Michigan Department of Career Development Rehabilitation Services (MRS) for preliminary service and subsequent referral to Goodwill Industries.


SUPPORTED BY: Goodwill Industries is mostly self-supporting through store sales, contract work, and fees for rehabilitation services. Support is also received through the United Way, government grants, and private grants.


PROGRAM/SERVICES DESCRIPTION:
Comprehensive Vocational Evaluation - Comprehensive Vocational Evaluation Services provide a systematic process in which an individual, in partnership with their Career Development Counselors and Rehabilitation Specialist, learns to make informed vocational choices and develop viable employment goals and objectives.

Employee Development - Employee Development Services training is designed to improve participant’s work-related behaviors, physical capacities, interpersonal skills and work habits as related to a generic work environment. In addition, the program is organized and time-limited in a way that will help a participant to better understand the meaning, value and demands of work.

Community Employment (Community Based Assessment) - Community Based Assessment provides individualized vocational training opportunities in community settings. Trainees work closely with a Job Coach to acquire the skills that will prepare them for competitive employment.

Employment Case Management Service Coordination - Employment Retention Services provides a cost effective delivery of participant support services during employment for a period of up to 12 months in order to assist in maintaining employment.

Organizational Employment - Organizational Employment Services offers a range of structural employment activities for individuals. The selection of services is based on interests, needs and the levels of abilities to participants.

Organizational Employment (Work Opportunity Program) - The Organizational Employment Services/CMH sponsored Work Opportunity Program provides clients with mental health related disabilities, work, therapeutic activities, and provides counseling to assist them in maximizing their vocational potential plus increasing their self-concept.
