OVERVIEW OF COMMUNITY DENTAL CLINIC
OPENING IN ST. CLAIR COUNTY JUNE 6, 2008

Over the course of the last ten years it has been well documented that dental services for Medicaid and the low-income uninsured populations of St. Clair County are virtually inaccessible through private practices in the county. The populations in need number in excess of 9,000 residents.
This Dental Clinic, built through a unique collaboration, will provide a general dentistry clinic for the low-income uninsured and Medicaid populations in St. Clair County. This clinic will provide care through Michigan Community Dental Clinics (MCDM), Inc. who successfully manage and operate quality community dental clinics for these populations throughout Michigan.
The unique community collaboration which has made this possible consists of the following members; United Way of St. Clair County who funded and built the building, Visiting Nurse Association who donated the property to build on, Community Mental Health who donated shared parking sites, the Stebbins Family Foundation who donated all the equipment and the St. Clair County Health Department who will provide operational support to MCDC. Other members of the collaboration include: Baker College Port Huron, Port Huron Hospital, Mercy Hospital Port Huron, and St. John River District Hospital. These partners have provided information/data and may provide other services in the future.
The facility will serve approximately 1,000 new patients during the first year and assume responsibility for the current caseload of over 3,500 children from the Health Department.
Every member of this collaboration has provided an invaluable piece in making this a reality for our community.
